UN Environment Programme
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) constitutes the leading global environmental authority that promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations. The Programme was founded in June 1972 following the Stockholm Conference on Human Environment to tackle pollution triggered by the industrial revolution that took place in the 1960s and 70s. Some topics the UNEP works on include climate change, chemicals and waste, as well as environmental governance.
